Even if the rebranded (is it a rebranding if you’re just going back to an old brand? Can brands work? Somebody get me a new strategist on the telephone ) Charlotte Hornets are not anything close to title contenders, they will at least look good as they try to improve on the No. 7 seed they caught since the Bobcats last year.
The new duds are slick, and Lance Stephenson will unveil the club with plenty of »no, no, no, YES! » razzle-dazzle. Additionally, but rookie big man Noah Vonleh is intriguing, and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist’s jumper looks more like a shot than a contortionist routine gone horribly wrong.
There’s reason to get fired up about these Hornets. You might even say there’s a buzz in Charlotte. You would not say that, of course, because that is about as hacky as it gets.
Suffice it to state the addition of Stephenson and more minutes for Kidd-Gilchrist could assist the league’s sixth-ranked defense make even better this season. If the offense around focal point Al Jefferson also improves (which it could with Kemba Walker heading right into a contract season ), the Bugs could surely increase the playoff ladder.
