Patrick Reed, tony Finau and Billy Horschel would be the 3 big names comprising in the week’s BMW PGA Championship, but need to more of their compatriots have made the trip?
The Wentworth showpiece moving to September is more perfect for those on the PGA Tour wishing to sample some big-tournament air on the European Tour, so Rich Beem is amazed that so few made the trip…
It is nice to see the men experiencing the BMW PGA to be honest and coming , I expected to see a few more here in Wentworth.
Kevin Kisner took up European Tour membership, Xander Schauffele played in the Porsche European Open so they would not want to play here, especially given the tournament date in the schedule, it is somewhat odd.
To have Tony Finau, Patrick Reed and Billy Horschel in the PGA Tour stars here, to me that seems somewhat weak.
Obviously, there are a number of European players who play on the PGA Tour but I’m surprised there are not Americans, to tell the truth.
Tony gets the should play more out of the US. He explained at his press conference before that for a player, you want to play. It’s great to see him come out of their’comfort zone’ of the PGA Tour and broaden his horizons, and he’ll be a much better player because of it.
Billy Horschel is producing his first appearance here, and I believe he has been somewhat surprised by the scale of this occasion. He explained this tournament as with a »significant feel » about it, also it’s great to hear him say that.
We’ll have to wait and see, although Perhaps those comments will attract more of his compatriots to come over later on. Although some may want to get out of this heat of traveling a long way to play conditions at another environment, the possibility won’t appeal to everyone!
But Billy is right about the major feel about this area. I’ve played with it before in May, but being in the autumn it seemingly has a different setting, and the potency of the field this week is fantastic.
It’s difficult to tell Tony, Patrick and Billy will get with this week. three are players who have had success, although patrick a step above the other two.
Tony span off the tee is clearly a huge advantage on the West Course for him, but from a perspective that is ball-striking , then Billy Horschel has a great opportunity to contend this week.
